Which Sierras have rear disc brake?
Patching Cars - 9/4/06 at 08:55 AM

As the title says really.

I know the Cossies did (but they're too expensive for a donor) as did the XR4s but I don't want a V6.

I saw a K reg Ghia for sale the other day and the advert said it had new rear calipers, did all the Ghias have rear disc brakes, or was this one an oddball?

Any other models with rear discs as standard?

The 1991 2.0 GLX I used had rear discs

I took mine of a Ford Scorpio, they should be the same.

All the sierra's that have ABS have discs all round, only problem is that they also have power steering and that is useless and no LSD.
Best donor would be a pre '90 xr4i 2.9i

Why do you wanna have disks at te rear?
The useall cars don't weigh more than 600 kgs, so you don't need that much stopping power...I just imagin ot's for the looks.

The XR4i had massive 10" drum brakes - these wont work with the Indy uprights as the handbrake cable doesn't clear the wish bone bolt.

fairly minor job to source smaller ones though or if you are making your own uprights you can cater for this.

Cheers

I quite like to look but I can't any point in spending aditional money/effort converting from drums to disc, so I use whatever the donor has.
