Mid engined car
zilspeed - 31/12/09 at 03:47 PM

Was in a friend's workshop today.

With his very kind permission, he allowed me to take some snaps of his latest work.
Mid engined chassis, mixture of round and non round tubes.
Pics tell more than I could bore you with.
Engine will be Hayabusa.

My involvement, has been minimal. I cut the occasional tube and steady it for welding. It's all tig welded and I can't spark it together to anything like the standard required. I also make the tea, that sort of thing. But it's nice to be involved with racing cars.

Amended to add - it goes without saying that the chassis is very mich a work in progress. The more observant will notice a load of missing chassis members. You will hopefully also manage to work out based on what else you see that triangulation will be complete in all planes.

Couple of tubes I would of placed a little differently, but looks good!

I assume he's plotted his own front geometry off the front cage?

I assume you're talking about suspension geometry ?
If so, it's designed to use an already proven setup which has seen road and competition use.
Fully rose jointed, aero section tubes, fabricated uprights, pushrods, alloy bodied coilovers mounted vertically inside the front section.
