Been working on and developing the midi for the last few months, check out my website
www.mkengineering.co.uk for the latest pictures, opions please.
Looks good!
Stu
I love the idea of a midi but the one thing that does put me off, for some bizarre reason, is rear cycle wings. I can't really explain why, I just don't think that it looks as good as it could if if were to look more "integrated". This isn't just aimed at your's Martin, I feel the same about the MEV's, SDR V Storm etc.

how does it go?
personally i prefer the nose on the grey demonstrator but i guess its just down to personal taste. the mods on the yellow one will certainly help for
iva.
i like the cycle wings front and rear. have always liked the riot and when the midi come a long i thought it was prettier
I'm going through this very issue, developing middie plans I hope others will want to build. The number one most contentious issue has been the rear fender treatment. I eventually gave up dictating one solution and now just make suggestions about various solutions.
That looks great
But I think that would be good under my IMP shell!!!!

Just me then! I just think it looks a bit "couldn't think of anything better to do with the wheels". Either that, or the rear wheel / arch combo looks too small for the rest of the car.
ral 1016? wonder where that idea came from?
The simplest and best looking design for rear guards for a minimalistic midi is always up for debate. I agree with an earlier poster, it's hard to make cycleguards look right. Possibly this is because they are generally too close to the body. I think the extra bulk of incorporating the guards into body may be useful on a midi because it shifts the center of pressure rearward and improves stability at speed and behavior in cross-winds.
Here was the shape that most young people seemed to prefer on my middie. The interesting thing is what people like on a "Seven" type car
seems to be age-related. That is, young people like a more brash in-your-face look, while middle-age people like a more subtle look. Older people tend
to feel the Seven shape is sacred and shouldn't be changed. (What they forget is that a lot of people think Seven's are downright ugly!)
I'm not trying to hijack your thread, just saying that for whatever reason, the rear fenders on these cars are a very subjective thing - everyone
likes something different - mid-engine or not.

I like the separate wings. I feel that the back end looks 'wrong' but I cant say why- just looks a bit like an available panel was stuck in
place. Strangely I think the one in the first picture looks better- perhaps its just because its not a solid colour.
I do wonder what air flow through the radiator will be like, with a flat panel not too far behind it. I was thinkong of a thin alloy curved sheet to
encourage the air to go up (I'm having a vent slot like an elise at the top of my bonnet - you could obviously do a couple curving out from the
centre and side slots.
I also think the top like of the bonnet could be lowered a little and drop more to the front - might look more aerodynamic.
All just my opinion though
Regards
Hugh

KB58, that looks very cool, and i'm a young 40yr old! I'm now thinking of making a cardboard mock up on my midi to see how it would look.
I guess I should feel lucky that I still feel like 17 even though I'm well over 40, and like the fender, too...
There's more pictures of different fender attempts on my site, see sig link. Cardboard is the only way sometimes to see how something will turn
out.

Is it just me or does the MK Midi look a lot like the Sylva Riot?
there are only so many ways to boil an egg.
Is it just me or do locosts not look like caterhams
OK... I'll re-phrase...
... is it just me, or does the MK Midi look like a direct copy of the Sylva Riot (which in itself has pretty distinctive looks that I've not seen
on any other kit car!).
