replacing beetle chassis - original dimensions
MrFluffy - 24/10/02 at 08:03 AM

I know that at least one other person here is not starting from scratch but building a replacement chassis to replace their vw one for a kit (Bull), in case anyone would want the dimensions to work from, thought I'd post the link here :-

Just to add:

I actually supplied Nova with their first 5 non-VW frames....

Still prefer a decent spaceframe though where possible...ah memories!!

wow, thats a claim to fame! I actually did a search on the net last night to see if they were still in business, but did remember thinking it was a bit 2D looking. I was thinking, if this was the 80's what are they up to now, guess the answer is theyve sodded off to america!
Ive derived a lot of inspiration from these guys tho :-

Theres a few spaceframe novas up for grabs at the moment, golf and xr3i powered ones, but they all seem to be using tiny little sub 2L motors, whats this obsession with <200 bhp motors I keep seeing?

FYI....

Specframe became SVC and made the Spectre kit (nice spaceframe, good handling car, a bit ugly though)....

Still in business today making steel security doors...I sold out in '94...

Hey Alan, small world!

I cut my teeth into the Kitcar world with a Nova way back in 1981, I think it was.

Did you move many replacement chassis?
As I remember things there was a rapid movement away from anything VW powered into the late 80's. This had the domino effect of pushing out most of the VW kitcars.

I still love the Nova and wouldn't mind another at the right price (next to nothing).
How did you get into the alternative chassis construction, did you have a Nova/Eagle?
