Following on from Mr Henderson's post about replacing the column bush with a bearing I fitted mine today. Had to make up an ally adaptor to fit the chassis where Luego put in the wedged section for the bush which took a bit of time . Found it to be well worth the effort as before the steering had a "dead" feel to it which is now gone. Self centering is much better and steering is lighter. HTH , Mel
any pictures of your handy work?
Will attempt to post some tomorrow. Missed you at Stoneleigh , your car looked good.
Thanks, i wish i could have made it to the show on the sunday as well but work got in the way (got to pay for the car somehow), i want to do the
bearing replacement on my car as well so some pics would be good.

Photo 1 shows the column from inside the car with the 2 8mm socket head screws securing the adaptor to the chassis. 2 shows the coupling. CHECK the clearance very carefully , I had to file a bit off the lower bearing clamp to gain clearanceyou may have more? 3 shows the "wedge" for the column bush , it's not big enough to fit the bearing directly. 4 another shot of the wedge. Made the adaptor out of a bit of 12mm ally plate that was left over from my inlet manifold. 6mm steel would probably do. Bored a hole to take the bearing plate , drilled and tapped to secure the bearing and also to bolt to chassis. About an hours work although a lathe came in handy. Still need to clean it up a bit but pleased with results.
Nice thread, Mr Nuts, lots of info + useful link - I also bought one of these bearings, but not got round to fitting it yet...
That looks like a tidy job, going to do mine, well its on the list of jobs to do now its on the road
