Viento exhaust ....
Paul (Notts) - 14/4/07 at 05:42 PM

How big have people made the opening in the side panel for the exhaust to pass through?

Just started making a template out of cardboard and 47cm by 7cm seems ok.

Paul.

I made mine 415mm by 100mm and it just fit. It's the flanges that require the height once the exhaust is in it's fine and dandy

If you don't make it high enough there may not be enough room to tilt it as the tubular coss bar gets in the way.

Finally got round to fitting the exhaust manifolds this weekend. Any advice or pics of how people fitted the silencer at the rear.

Hi Paul

Below are some pics showing how mine has been fixed (not by me). To be honest the bracket seems to flex more than the rubbers the exhaust is actaully mounted on, but only some miles will tell how effective (or not) the solution is. May give you some ideas though...

How low are peoples silences on their cars?

Does the silencer come above or below the bottom of the car on yours and how far?

The reason I ask is that due to something strange with my manifolds (which are 4 years old and not fitted until recently) I am having to get a "dogleg" piece made up rather than then short bit with the slight angle supplied This means that I can adjust the height that the exhaust sits at but currently with my temporary flexi pieces it is sitting just below the bottom of the car - looks good but not sure it is right!

Thanks

Mark

are lower but not much

i would put them equal with the floor

in that way there is never weight on your manifold..

also i welded an piece of angle in the chasis sow my rubber is horizontal..

and sandwiches the alloy sideplate..

Tks

The bottom of my silecnce sits maybe 10-20mm lower than the bottom of the car.
