New Velocity!
ChrisW - 29/8/03 at 03:30 PM

Spoke to Grant last night who has revealed the details of the new Velocity flavour, the XT - the difference being a widened rear end to allow the Sierra rear end to fit without modification. I'm guessing this will make it about 4" wider. Sounds good!

New logo now attached below:

Chris,

Any idea if the front end stays as book or is widened to match the rear end?

Ned.

The front is wider to balance and improve road handling.

The Velocity Xt will enable you to have all round disc brakes. Luego have also designed a drum to disc conversion kit.

We will also in the very near future be offering a steering rack upgrade that will eliminate any bump steer.

The Velocity Xt will also have an aero screen moulding that will be colour coded to the GRP you choose.

I trust this has cleared up any queries, if you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting us.

All the best The Luego Team.

Is it wider to the extent of being the same track as the Sierra? ie. 6/7 inches wider than the Escort?

Cheers,

James

Just to add to this thread I have been to the factory this week and have seen the aforementioned vehickewle and it looks sooper dooper so far! It is in the throes of having a Zetec mit zer bespoke inlet plenum/manifold fitted and will doubtless go like faeces off a soil removing device when finished. I went back today to have a measure of the chassis to see if my Citroen lump will fit and I think it will (just, yipee!). I am heartened to see a question I had yet to ask the Luego lads pre-answered for me, specifically the issue of availability of a modified steering rack to eliminate bump steer. I have to confess I was trying to make my mind up between an MK Indy and the Velocity bu thaving been to the factory and sat in the nice new Xt I think my mind has been more or less made up. I am going to try and get to the Donnington show so I can see them both in close proximity and make a final judgement.
Last note, the Xt has revised side-impact protection, consisting mainly (from what I could see) of either 1.5 or 2 inch by 1 inch tubes used for the diagonal bracers around the passenger cell, as opposed to the more typical 1" square tube. I know yo udon't buy a seven for its crash survivability but this new feature can only be good.
P.S. All of the people I spoke to a Luego were extremely polite (sorry I can't remember individual names gents!) and helpful, another plus point.

I would guess so James - I know it takes the Sierra rear end unmodified so I expect the front is widened by the same amount. Will speak to Grant on Monday and ask him.

Hi Guys, the foot print for the new

Velocity Xt is:

Front 1.5 Metres
Rear 1.7 Meters
Centre to centre Front to Rear 2.4 Metres
approx

I trust this will help.

Regards The Luego Team.
