Posted a few times in the past and had some very good advice so here goes again!

I am in the process of building a Locost to comply with the 750mc series regs. Hopefully with a view to entering a race or two in the fullness of time (or when my wife allows me access to enough money, whichever comes first!). I have a couple of questions someone might be ale to help me with.

I need to sort a fuel tank, what capacity should I be looking for?

Also I currently have a brand new Mk2 Escort radiator, but I have read somewhere (and now can't find where) that a VW Polo radiator might be a better option, what are other people using?

I'm sure there will be more questions coming up.

sure someone was selling a couple of tanks on here yesterday have a look in the fore sale section. The escort one is being used with zetecs still so will be up to the job

If using purely for racing the less fuel carried the better. About 5 gallons would be enough for a race or two. With regards to
the rad a polo is an alloy rad with good cooling properties and has a boss for a cooling fan switch.

I asked the same (radiator) question about a year ago, advice was Mark 2 Polo, perfect fit, very light and just over £20 new off eBay

The Locost regs state that rads constructed solely of alum are not allowed.

Not sure if this includes Polo rad which is alloy and plastic !

Petrol tank wise you need 4.5 gal to be able to do the longer 28 Min races.
Radiator. There are some that run with the polo radiators. STD escort will be on a par with the polo in terms of cooling performance but it does not really cut it on a warm days racing. Hence the reason i have specials made for the Locost championship that a lot of the drivers are running. It enables the temps to be kept down on even the hottest days.

Whilst I do have 2 ally fuel tanks for sale one of which is big enough, the smaller one has been swapped out as its too small for the longer races this year. If you are interested in the larger one, let me know.

Would completely agree with Matt reference rads. I swapped out an escort item for one of procomps and temps are greatly imroved.

This might be a bit of a naive question on my part, but I am making the assumption that cooling fans are not used on the basis of weight?

What would be the cost of a procomp rad?

I have an option I am exploring re the tank, but if that falls through and yours is still available I may well come back to you. Thanks very much.
