I presume this will fail SVA?
I have a centre catch in the middle of the bonnet, and the sides have locating rubbers, do you think I can get away without side catches is these are
no good? I could take them out and put badges over for the SVA...

yep
And one more thing - the exhaust (a cat one loaned for SVA) sticks out from the body a bit at the front (you can see in the picture) but it's
below the vertical on the side of the car, i.e. if you stand right up to the edge of the car you leg still wont touch it.
Is this ok for SVA as it's effectively under the car???

I would stick some shrink tube over it or take some plastic chopping board and make a surround with chamfered edges for the catch

or some stick backed foam on the front face of the catch say 5mm thick stuff, then just peel off and clean the chrome with white sprit, you can buy it
from B&Q etc

And they wont consider that too temporary as that was my worry....

Cool - got plenty of that stuff..
Anybody got any thoughts on the exhaust?

If the exhaust is contactable by the 30 degree cone (think outstretched leg) then it counts as above the floor line and must meet radius
requirements.
See the manual for details.
Som e cars have passed with those catches and others failed. It comes down to the tester but the ones I've seen that passed were more flush than
yours when closed.
The exhaust looks like it'll have to meet the radius requirements but it's hard to tell from the picture.

IF going to Gillingham, SVA man is very picky.... so no they wont pass... although i think the exhaust would. He is very down to earth and knows that all the stupid little bits people put will fall off 10 mins down the road after getting a pass. Dont worry about sticking foam and rubber everywhere cos he likes to see it.
Thanks chaps - gonna try to cover them with rubber and hope he doesn't mind the exhaust...
You could get samples from here
http://www.mocap.co.uk/flat-rectangular-grips-caps.asp
to fit the bottom end of the bonnet catches which is probably the only possible SVA fail point , would look more professional and permanent. The
button head fasteners may also attract some attention.
Are you going to Mitcham again?
They look like a good idea.... thanks, I'll get me some samples...
Yes, Mitcham again Hopefully not 3 visits this time though!!
