fog light
markyb - 25/3/09 at 02:17 PM

I accidentally broke my fog light and ordered a new one off tinterent but they sent me a stop/tail one instead

probably a bit of a numpty question but, if I changed the connections and bulb, would it do the same job as a fog light

I know the chances of driving in fog are probably slim but the car has still to go through SVA so need it to be correct

thanks

Proper fog light has a narrower beam giving higher intensity (same 21w bulb).

It would fail SVA as the SVA Inspector will be looking for the light lens to be marked with an 'F' to indicate the lens is a fog light.

Usually the Fog light has a reflective moulding as opposed to a typical satin finish.

If you're pushed for time, could you not repair the fog light you've damaged? (Providing it isn't beyond repair)

had a look at the light and there is no 'F' on it so have got onto the supplier ref a replacement.

I didnt realise that the light was letter coded - you learn something new everyday
