I have been ringing swansea for just over 3 weeks to get a reg pack so that I can get the ball rolling with a home inspection.
Because they do not give out the Wimbledon VRO phone number and I had not recieved any forms, I decided to go to wimbledon today.
Apart from parking issues, it took 50 mins waiting and a couple of queue jumpers for me to finally see someone.
I asked if a home inspection could be done or start the ball rolling.
After they disappeared to find out I was told that no inspection could be initiated until I have my MAC (20th April sva) and it would take 6-8 weeks
after that if I wanted a home inspection!
So it now looks like I need someone to trailer it there if I want it done any quicker.
I asked for the correct forms and I got the carbon one.
After 2hrs struggling to get there/back I got home to find the dvla Reg pack waiting for me
This contained more forms than what wimbledon gave me.
It is plain to me that us car builders (you know, the ones that are supporting the only british car part suppliers) are just considered too much
hassle for them.

the DVLA couldn't organise an alcohol fuelled evening in a beer making facility.
I can never decide whether they're just bone idle lazy or incompetent.
probably a mixture of the two.
Apparantly there are some crazy fools out there in DVLA land though who like cars and actually know something about how you're supposed to
register them. But they're few and far between....
I know where I would go and work if I wanted a stress free job though!
Imagine being able to stroll into work and make it up as you go along!
At least they said you could have a home inspection.... Worcester DVLA said "You decided to build it, its your problem". Thanks.
My God! Visits and posts on a forum, has a sense of humour but guessing from the "examin 'em" comment in your profile I would say you are VOSA rather than DVLA though... You don't fancy a trip to Chadderton on the 2nd do you???
Sorry, have to disagree, I rolled up to Stockton DVLA on the day of SVA with the MAC unannounced and they couldn't have been more helpful.
She inspected the car, went over the docs and pointed out I was missing insurance. Went back two days later with the docs again and that was that,
walked away with the reg and tax.
Parking wasn't easy with the trailer but nowt to get worked up about.
Nothing more simple, or there again the SVA was doddle too.

I also have to say that once I played by Nottingham's rules & took the buggy to them on the day they stated at the time they stated,
everything was easy & done in the 2 day time frame they stated.
Alan...
Borehamwood are being similary obstructive - though they did offer a home visit without fuss, so a thumbs up there... Though they now want to do
another one!

I forgot to add that I told them it was a new car with a new reg required.
They asked if I had an MOT.....
I pointed out that new cars (and amateur builds) do not have MOT's until 3 years after first reg.
Perhaps I should get a job there?
Anyone willing to trailer my car over to wimbledon on or about 20th April? (if it passes sva).
