I am sure i read somewhere you now need a tell tale for sidelights..

is this correct?

a tell tale light or sticker? IIRC you don't need a light but there must be tell tale on or in the vicinty of the switch. Best check the book!

wasnt aware sidelights had to work with ignition off..

have to rewire them now them...
