Dread side repeaters
Michael - 4/7/10 at 10:02 PM

I have looked at moving my side repeaters over the weekend, but the ones i have are to big for relocating on the wings.

I found someone the bay that are 75mm in lengh and 25mm high (from surface)

I have the same in clear at home, but there are no E marks.

Do they have to be E marked for IVA?

Thanks

Ive just fitted mine in the rear wings today.

They are tiny and well out of the way there.

only about 20mm dia with hole of 16mm.

will take a photo tommorrow if you want ?

Bought at Newark for £12 but also sold by Gbs on ebay.

I got a couple of the little round LED repeaters from GBS and mounted them on the outside of the rear wings and come with rubber mounting.

MK use some rather large ones, which they put on the outside of the front wings.

Only the rear fog needs to be E marked for IVA, nothing else

I have used these from GBS, £8 inc postage. If you are fitting them on the wings(front or rear), you don't necessarily need the rubber sealing bush, they look very neat without

i fitted mine in the side of headlight bowl

you can buy them CBS done like it now

seem to remeber side repeaters have to be within a certain distance of front of car..

2.4m i think

I thought all lights had to be E marked or equivalent. I have not IVA a car though so dont quote me.

I have seen a few cars now with indicators on the rear arches. Seems a tidy mod.

E markings only needed on rear fog lamp, other lamps need to be the equivalent rating in terms of brightness, however it makes sense to fit E rated main lamps otherwise you are at the testers mercy, because it is down to his opinion

I have ones that CBS sell but got them from Premier Wiring yonks ago.

They are to big for the area on my rear arch so looking at getting smaller ones for IVA.

Do you need a special relay for these?

As I understand it, the flasher circuit relies on receiving a signal in the form of a current drain (usually provided by the usual standard bulbs) for the flasher circuit to operate. In the case of LEDs, however, because the current is so tiny, the flasher unit doesn't get its feedback, so the flasher doesn't work. The usual way round this is to put a resistor in the circuit to produce the normal current drain.

In this case though, as they are only LED repeaters, the drain is provided by the standard back and front bulbs, so the resistors wouldn't be needed.

HTH, Regards, Steve.

I brought a couple of Land Rover Defender ones off the bay 2 weeks back for £4.50 each.
