Import Engine Number - IVA and Registration
pdm - 20/8/10 at 06:14 PM

Hi

Anyone gone through IVA and reg with an import car ?

My MX5 is actually a Eunos and is currently SORN'd on a J plate - V5 says first reg'd 2003 and first reg'd in UK in 2003. Then in special notes it states built 1992 and imported. Big but though is the engine no on V5 says Not Known. This is quite normal I'm told for MX5 imports.

I'm just wondering how I'll get on proving engine age with the V5 at IVA.

And also how it might affect registration ?

Anyone had a similar thing ?

thanks
Paul

Are Mazda able to give you a detail of the engine number/VIN from their own records?

I imagine a printout from Mazda is adequate for IVA?

Yes might have to go that route.

Just spoken to DVLA on the phone which was suprisingly a lot better than I thought it would be.

Apparently I can write in to request an update of the details with the engine number and they will update. But she did say it would be better if I got a garage to look for number and write it on headed notepaper or got it from Mazda. Otherwise I'll end up sending in a request to update the V5 to the DVLA and they'll just go "oh sneaky attempt to change your engine hey - rejected ".

joy !!
