Steering wheel, airbag, IVA?

Evening

If I use a steering wheel with an airbag fitted but not functioning will it pass IVA?

Thanks

Might raise a few questions from the tester.... but WHY would you want to put a high explosive infront of your face....

You can pickup a second hand non airbag wheel for less than a pint of bitter!

My choice of donor steering column (mk2 mx5) is steering me in that direction

I'm using it as I am also using the engine and full wiring loom. I'm thinking using a sierra column might end up being easier since that is the standard fit one.

Have the exploding bit removed.
By an acredited mechanic.
It's still classed as explosive even if deactivated.

It's more a case of needing a steering wheel for IVA.

I have heard of a Mondeo wheel failing IVA for a "sharp edge" - my initial reaction was that it couldn't be a genuine fail as it's a type approved part, but as soon as you deactivate the airbag function it ceases to be type approved, so if it has a "sharp edge" will fail! It's a minefield out there!
