Dvla wouldn't give bike tax on a bec!

Well I've just been to my local dvla office to put the application in to get my car registered and they refused to give my motorbike tax on my bec and instead did it in the low end car tax bracket which is around 130 for the year.

Now I always thought bec got motorbike tax but no matter how much I argued the case they would not do it.

Anyone else had this trouble or know the ruling on this? I'm thinking of ringing Swansea and see what they say

erm, well it is a BEC< as in bike engined CAR....
you might get bike tax on a trike or quadricycle, but never on a 4 wheel car

Really? I've seen no end of bec's for sale that say at is like 78 quid for the year which I presumed would be bike tax?

No, car tax for cars, bike tax for bikes, for kits its based on engine size, not engine origin.

i've never seen any car get bike tax rates.
regardless ofwhat the enigne is, its a car, so i think they're correct

Ah right it would seem I have been miss informed then, my bad!

Cheers for clearing this up!

Applications gone in anyway I've got told 5 days if an inspection isn't required and 2 weeks of one is

once you put a bike engine into a car it is a car engine
