I've just been phoning around some companies and thought the quotes I got might be useful in helping people decide where to get their cover:

They didn't ask me ANY details about the engine other than its size. I thought this was weird since there can be such a massive power difference between different 2L engines, so may be a good deal for people with very powerful engines.

This cover DOES NOT cover you to SVA and back, you NEED a registration number. They do offer a policy where you don't need to give them a reg for up to 30 days but this comes in at a whopping £902.75!!!

This company was the cheapest by quite a long way and also seemed to have the longest list of extras - full european cover and all kinds of stuff i didn't really take in, if anyone wants more details I can post them once I get my policy through in the post, should be tomorrow morning.
