Afternoon folks,
I'm sure this has been covered before but the search doesn't seem to be working atm.
Has anyone written a step by step guide to IVA and registering an amateur built kitcar?
Every time I try and read through the gov and dvla stuff I seem to find different form or completely different steps.
Any help?
I assume you've read the IVA manual?
Lot of info Stickied at the top of the IVA section!

Its pretty straight forward. You fill in forms found on Gov.UK
Vehicle Approval Website, specifically Application for IVA (VOSA 753) and your Amateur Built Declaration (Vosa 768). Also send through your
receipts and build photos. They'll give you a date and you turn up with the car for testing.
Then onto the DVLA. I went my local office and asked them for the forms V55/5 and V627/1 and fill them in. They'll then process that and
probably ask to inspect the car at another site (if your after age related) to see that the parts and old. Then issue you a V948 so you can get plates
and follow it up with a issuing a V5C in the next few weeks.
The VOSA people are very helpful. The DVLA are completely uninterested, so I recommend you go and see your local office (if they still exist) and talk
to a real person, not the Swansea head office.
Hi
This may be a little help
Or confuse even more
Good luck
René
