Ok guys so I am completing and sending the IVA application today... I have most things covered except I actually fitted my vehicle identification plate last year because I was going to IVA in April 2012... I failed emissions when I check them before booking the test and with one thing or another it has taken until now to sort it out... my vin plate which has the engine number, chassis number also includes a date which I stamped last year before fitting it as Feb 2012.. So what should I put on the paperwork this date or the date now? Any ideas?

Sorry additional question....

The axle weights max I am going to put as 450 / 450 as suggested previously on here however the gross weight definition is the gross weight of the car and this I think is about 640kg.. Suggestions have been put 900kg but when they weight it this will be only 640... (heavy I know for a 7).. which way do I go?

As I understand it the axle weights are the max safe weight the axle can take, not the actual weight of the car split between them (doubt your weight distribution is 50:50 anyway).

Putting 640kg for gross weight would be fine.

If you're worried then call the local centre and ask. Same with the manufacturers plate as some people seem to have failed recently through having too much information on the plate.

Not sure about Q1 but for axle weights my understanding is they are not essential and its best not to put them on the plate as it creates issues.

sorry guys I wasn't clear on the first question... both of them are related to what I put on the form not what is on the plate.. I don't have any weights stated on the plate only chassis #, Engine # and date of manufacture...

the very latest 17/6/13 version of the iva manual (revision 10) has updated the statutory plates section again

it now appears to require

Approval No. and/or Build Stage No.
VIN
and optional weights

Gross vehicle weight and max design weight are different
One is what it weighs one is the maximum weight it can carry with all seats occupied and luggage
Don't get your definitions mixed up
If you put gross weight when it needs max design weight your car won't pass

You built it when you built it
The V5 will state first registered date

i put actual weight on my form then got a call from vosa and they changed it to 450 front 450 rear max axle weight on paper.. i then placed some vinyl over my chassis plate so it only showed my chassis and engine number.. no other info was showed on my plate and it passed 2 weeks ago..

to much info on a plate will fail..
