IVA......Done!
b3ngy - 29/8/14 at 11:52 AM

Passed IVA test this morning @ Southampton on second attempt. So glad its done now. Emissions were tricky with busa engine but got there in end after driving the car around the car park to get the cat hot!

Now need to get on the case of registering it.

loggyboy - 29/8/14 at 11:57 AM

Congrats... keep us updated on the registration process.

Jenko - 29/8/14 at 12:03 PM

Well done, I too will be venturing down to the Southampton IVA centre soon.

gaz05 - 29/8/14 at 12:15 PM

Well done. I'm just waiting for a retest.

adithorp - 29/8/14 at 12:27 PM

Nice one!

Passing the cat' emmision test with an open loop system is always ging to be tricky. Well done.

Just phoned dvla to clarify which forms I need to complete.

V55/5 as it has been built from doner parts
V627/1

Also required is-
Copy of I.D
Copy of build receipts
Fees for registration/tax

AND AN MOT CERTIFICATE????? Really?? How can an MOT be issued to a car that is not registered??

Please help.

loggyboy - 29/8/14 at 12:57 PM

Ignore that bit - Probably they think its an import or something.
F*cknuts.
Either that or they meant IVA Cert.

I asked if that was what they meant but they said IVA cert and MOT.

Has anybody else taken their car for an MOT straight after passing IVA?? I really cant understand why you would need to do this but am now worried it will massively delay registration if I dont do it and it is required.

Cheers, Ben

Fishface - 29/8/14 at 02:38 PM

scutter - 29/8/14 at 03:16 PM

Well done Ben, Just a few more hoops to jump through.

No MOT for 3 years
The IVA is an MOT++

Keep a copy of your IVA certificate because you won't get it back.

joneh - 29/8/14 at 08:57 PM

Well done, will keep an eye out around Fareham for you!

I'd like that style roll cage for my haynes roadster but wondered if you constantly bang your legs on it?

stripe - 29/8/14 at 09:54 PM

Hope your registration goes more smoothly than mine did, took 48 days to get my registration (q plate), with the DVLA loosing all my paperwork including receipts etc, make sure you have copies!!! Only got the registration 3 weeks ago.

neilp1 - 30/8/14 at 05:03 AM

Nice one.

I sent away my paper work last saturday to DVLA special delivery.

adithorp - 30/8/14 at 07:51 AM

The front of the V55 lists the required accompanying documentation. MOT isn't one of them. I think when you phone DVLA you get through to a help desk that deals with lots of enquiries and whoever gets lumbered with the job for the day doesn't necessarily know all the ins and outs of kit registration.

Not really, got a nice piece of roll cage padding. It actually makes a nice knee rest.

Well I cant do much at the moment as didn't realise I had to get the dvla to send me the paperwork. Why dont they just make all the forms printable from their website?

Yeah, I spoke to 3 different people and they all gave me different answers, none of which matched what was on the website or forms. Stick with what's written down and ignore what the people on the phone say.
And as above, take copies of everything, and send it signed delivery.

Will do, thanks for the advice.

V55/4 and V55/5 are three layer duplicate forms so not possible to print from computer.

Hmm....but perfectly feasible to be made available and submittable online... I would assume...?

Fair enough, didn't know they were duplicate forms.

But as mentioned above.....

Anyway that's the system in place so just have to get on with it. Just feel the dvla don't make things easy.

Hilarious isn't it, carbon paper in the 21st century.

cosmick - 5/9/14 at 06:31 PM

Fantastic news. Congratulations on passing the IVA. Well done.

b3ngy - 15/9/14 at 08:25 PM

This process is getting ridiculous now!!! How can the dvla be so useless??

Its been over 2 weeks since I first contacted the dvla to request the necessary registration forms. In those 2 weeks I have phoned the dvla 3 times and had 3 lots of paperwork sent to me.

Still nothing has arrived and I'm starting to get pi##ed off.
