Hi all,
Just posting this for info as I couldn't see the answer...
I just go the V11 Car tax renewal through for my 2 year old Q-Reg car. On the form it said an MOT was required, and when I tried to renew online it
blocked me.
Having been through several offices I got the official answer.
For Q-Reg cars, the system can't cope!! You cannot use the online system for taxing your car until you have had the first MOT, 3 years after IVA.
Until then, you have to go to the post office and complete a form V112 -tick NO at Part 2 and complete part 3 to declare the car is less than 3 years
old. Simples......
Common - Go to the Post office.
Current V112 doesn't have an option for the >3 year old.
I uploaded the old version when this came up before.

I had this last year after the 6 months tax was running out. It's because Q plates seem to be classed as used cars? There's a form from the post office you sign saying it's a newly built car and doesn't require an MOT for 3 years.
My Q plate was absolutely fine being taxed online.
Go to the PO with the V5c and they will overide the system
Never had that problem with mine, always taxed it online.
Other option is just take it for a MOT
