Had SVA today at Shrewsbury. The tester was Stuart. Have to say I didn't expect it but we came away with a smile on our face and a fail. Purely
because of Stuart. He was fantastic, talked us through all the tests and gave tips, hints, and suggestions on how to solve the fail points. So in my
opinion we have come away with a list of how to get a pass rather than stabbing in the dark as we were.
The fails were:
Front brakes hoses fouling They weren't when i checked them but they seem to have settled in to a position where they do now)
Same with the rears
Rear wishbone lock nuts (I missed them on my tightening session)
Headlamp adjustment incorrect (despite paying a garage to set them up on friday they were out)
Need documentation to prove the pipes from the brake master cylinders to reservoir are the correct spec to take brake fluid (I think is going to be
the worst to solve)
Base of Interior Rear view mirror not radius enough (sorry SVC but it's not as SVA complient as you thought)
Radius on bottom of scuttle under dash and side trim panels too small.
Rear brakes not working at all (see my other thread for that on going problem)
Brake bias setup not working properly (pivot points for master cylinders too close to centre pivot stopping them working)
Emmissions failed 8.5 % needed 4.5 (a bit miffed about this one as I again paid someone to set this up and it was at 2% with them, well you know what
they say, if you want a job doing.......)
Front headlights did not meet the angles of visibility (a problem with the Luego setup so will have to modify)
Lower edge of dash panel need to be radius of 19mm, 4mm thick foam was not enough.
Front Indicators not bright enough (they are bike ones and have black background, a silver spray job or tin foil should sort this one.)
It looks a lot but I'm really pleased that there are no major difficult problems to solve, except brakes (Stuart gave a couple of tips that
should solve that we hope.)
Once again a fantastic tester who made the day a pleasure not the grilling I expected. Would highly recommend Shrewsbury.
Anyway booked the retest for a week Friday so best get back in the garage

Sounds like there are some good one's eh? Almost sounded like you could have been at Beverley... they were of a similar personality. I think they
respect someone who builds a car and strives to hit criteria rather than someone who builds and blatantly just covers everything and prays for
pass....
Good luck for the re-test Phill...
Phil, I've just ordered some hose from Fuel Systems Enterprises,
I could post you a foot to do your lines if you want? You'll have to wait till tomorrow as i haven't received it yet. But the
SPEC SHEET is here.
The rest looks quite simple, on the road in no time.
Atb Dan.

Thanks Scutter.
I have ordered some from fuelsystems as it appears this will be acceptable with the datasheet and the markings on the hose that tie up after speaking
to the SVA guys. Thanks for the offer though.
No worries
Dan.
Spent yesterday afternoon fixing the problems. and thought i'd update this thread for anybody else who has similar problems in the future.
Front and rear brake pipes fouling - double cable tied the pipes to the top wishbones. After bit of experimentation we found the right positions.
Brake hose documentation - Got some from fulesystems.co.uk and will produce the receipt for the hose along with the datasheet for it. Also made sure
that the two peices had all the markings easily visable.
Interior mirror - when measured I found that the base was 5.2mm thick (so close yet so far) so grinded the base down to 3.5mm to be on the safe side
(in fairness to SVC i think it would of been fine but the rules are there for a reason)
Dash Raduis - Added exactly the same trim again over the top.
Rear Brakes - As suggested by Stuart the tester we mounted the calipers temporarily in exactly the same position they are on the donor (about 45
degrees on the rear edge of the disc with the nipple facing upwards.) Taped the calipers a few times with a hammer then bled them. And boy did we get
some air coming out!. They now work fine and we have set up the bias properly (am taking it to a garage to get it checked properly before the
retest.)
Brake Bias - undid the rear pushrod and had enough room to move the pivot out to give 2mm clearance either side. By the way as it doesn't seem to
have been answered before to get the bias to the front you wind the pivot point towards the front master cylinder.
Emmissions - Took it out to the garage and he tweeked it back down.
Front headlights angles - moved the bar out towards the wheel by about 20mm and added a spacer under the lamp to get it up about 25mm.
Front indicators - took them apart and sprayed the insides with some silver spray.
Hope this helps someone.
