PLEASE HELP ME CLEAR THIS UP! I THINK I READ SOMEWHERE TO GET A NEW REG, 55 PLATE AS IT IS NOW YOU NEED TO BUILD FROM 100% NEW PARTS OR ALL NEW PARTS WITH 1 MAJOR RECON PART EG ENGINE, GEARBOX, AXLE. IS THIS RIGHT? DOES A BIKE ENGINE AND BOX CLASS AS ONE PART?
Yes think thats right, and the bike engine and gearbox constitutes that one part but you must prove that the part has been recon d and the person who has done the work on that part must put in writing that it is"new condition"
I AM A QUALIFIED ENGINEER AND KNOW PLENTY OF PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR ENGINE RECON PLACES SO THAT SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM! I PRESUME RECIEPTS FOR PARTS USED IN THE "RECON" WOULD HELP? AS NEW WOULD MEAN TO OEM SPECS?
yes keep all receipts, the DVLA inspector will look through them all, and send about 5or 6 to Swansea, but it will be your local bloke who will decide on which plate you get. Hope that helps. Chris
Rather than getting receipts for the new parts that are fitted to the engine, it would be better to have 1 receipt for a reconditioned engine.
Receipts for everything else must be for NEW parts.
ps A very expensive way to build a Locost

LOL
I COULD SOON GET A RECEIPT FOR A RECON ENGINE!

HAVE THERE EVER BEEN ANY CASES OF ENGINES BEING INTERNALLY INSPECTED?? IT WOULD LOOK NEW
NICELY PAINTED! WOULD BE EXPENSIVE BUT THEN THE FINAL RETAIL VALUE WOULD BE HIGHER!
no. the inspector that looked at our car, didnt really seem to know much about the mechanics of the car, just looked at engine number, vin number, and just a general look to see if it was as described on the dvla form.
wouldn't a new type registration then require a cat test at mot?
if you have a cat fitted then i don't suppose that it would be an issue
if the engine was pre 92 then surely it wouldnt need a cat? anybody?
STOP SHOUTING!
& turn your caps lock off!
We can all hear you!
ok!
hows that???
