Horn

Does anyone know where the horn needs to be located to pass the SVA. Does it have to be on the steering wheel, dash or just within easy reach?

Cheers

AFAIK

The horn is not tested at SVA but it is required for MOT.

Does it have to be located in a certain position for an MOT?

For MOT I think that it just has to work.

on the steering wheel???? would deafen you every time you gave it a honk!

would say somewhere inside the nose cone would be suitable!

I belive that the horn needs ot be functional for the SVA, and it must also work without the ignition on.

I could be wrong though.

My horn was tested during the SVA - scared the life out of the tester! (twin FIAMM air horns).

Horn is not mentioned in the SVA manual AFAIK. I have read somewhere else that you do not need a horn fitted for SVA.

Having said that, my SVA tester did test the horn - air horns make a nice loud noise in the SVA lane of the test "hangar" at Gillingham

Horn, is 100% not tested for SVA. Mine decided to drop a wire 5 mins before the sva so we had a panic to get it fixed. Got it fixed and apologised for being a minute late and was told I shouldn't have bothered cause horn is not required for SVA

Horn is def NOT tested for SVA and not required.

But I guess as you need it for an MOT in the future and it's worth having anyway then why not fit it anyway. Doesn't matter where the button is located, mines on the dash centre console bit.

I fitted my horn just behind the Rad as per 'A Race Car Is Born' Westfield build on TV. I don't think it matters where it goes but under the bonnet/nose cone & out of the way would be good.
