Bl**dy DVLA.
Called today, with all of my forms. Waited for about an hour. Got seen by a guy who said I had to wait to see the DVLA inspector. Another hour passed, only to be told he needed to inspect the car, but couldn't do it for 3 weeks if he had to come out. So I had to settle for taking the car their next Friday. WHAT A LOAD OF BOLL**KS!!!

Sorry to say your experience is an all too common experience!!

It seems that different offices inspect cars brought to the office on different days, for instance Brighton do it Weds morning.

What about something like a database of all info relating to certain DVLA local offices, if for instance you can get contact names and phone numbers then we could post there along with inspection days which would help others.

What does anyone else think?

Rich.

Thats the exact reason i got my car inspected before SVA. I had to wait 2 weeks last time cos the inspector was on holiday!

So what exactly are they inspecting?

As I see it, basically that you're building/have built what you've told them. And that the vin plate etc is there, amongst other probably minor things that still cost to put right.

The number for Wimbledon is 0870 850 0007. The lady dealing with my 'case' is Harsha.

What you have to do is phone them, go through the stupid menu system and talk to anyone who answers. You tell them that you need to speak to Harsha in the Kit Car dept and they will get her to call you when it's convenient for them. They will organise the inspection.

Daft but what can you do?

is it nottingham dvla you're dealing with leigh? dave richards sorted all mine out for me, quite a helpfull bloke really.

all he checked on mine was the engine number, asked for any reciepts i had but wasn't actually interested in if they were for the car he just wanted to tick a box! asks random questions to determine if you can have a age related plate then buggers off and sorts you out a vin and reg number.
