SVA fail Nottingham
esn163 - 27/7/06 at 06:54 PM

Just failed today at Nottingham on a few expected and unexpected things.

Got there fine - running very well apart from exhaust bracket breaking on the way there.

Things we failed on:

MAC#1 dash bottom edge radius less than 19mm

Front edge of MK CAT not to correct radius - trim melted with lots of smoke in petrol station this morning

Brake pipe brackets not tight enough.

Fuel tank breather too low

EMISSIONS - miles out, but not unexpected as engine not set up yet

Exhaust bracket as above

Not a bad fail and nothing too serious assuming emissions can be sorted.

Tester (Martin) was friendly and very helpful. Explained everything he was doing and showed what to do to get around faults. All in all a good morning out and nothng to worry about.

that's interesting about the dash, not heard of anyone else failng on mac 1's dash! was it far out and what did he say could remedy it?

Martin at Nottingham did my SVA. He was very thorough, very fair and very helpful.

Get that retest booked and get on the road while the summer's here

Not too sure what to do about the dash at the moment possibly try and pad it out even more - I don't think it was that far out. Retest wont be for a few weeks being as we are away from next thursday for two weeks.

Not to bad then Ed, any ideas on the emissions? Did it self centre ok etc.

self centring was fine set wheels up straight on track rods on either side and then three turns out for both sides. Self centred fine after that. Might go with the old fish tank valves for emissions but not quite sure yet.

My MAC#1 dash Failed SVA as it didnt have their crash pad covering it As Darren W had it at the time.

Its 15mm not 19mm as required

Jos, do you have any details of their "crash pad"

Thanks,

Simon

Im a bit shocked a Dash like the MAC#1 for how much it costs fails any SVA

remember about my exhaust mate first time no probs you should be able to do it without fish tank valves..

Hi Chris, yes not forgotten about your exhaust.

Might take you up on it when I get back from holiday and we try and get it sorted.

Thanks,

Simon
