wrapping loom & SVA
locoboy - 14/8/06 at 08:55 PM

Im stripping my loom open at the moment to do the cut and shut side of things.

I am planning on using the split convoluted tubing to carry the loom when its in the car but what should i wrap the wires in before putting it in the tubing?

I have heard that regular insulating tape is not favoured by SVA testers.

Cheers

You can buy loom tape. It looks like insulation tape but it is not sticky.
It can be wrapped around the cables and secured each end with a little insulation tape.
I got mine from premier wiring.
I am not sure if you need to tape the cables if you are using flexible conduit as this will provide the necessary mechanical protection.

You don't need to cover the cables, the tubing is enough, though a bit of loom tape or heatshrink of pvc sleeve is nice where the wires leave the tube.
