totalkitcar.com are reporting that 'VOSA/DVLA intend to rename SVA as IVA (individual vehicle approval)
Hmmm, can't imagine they won't change something more important that just the name.
I believe the reasoning behind the renaming is that when you pass, you can say "I've an IVA".
Not quite, the SVA will remain, but there will be another category open to vehicle manufacturers called IVA. Its a different thing altogether.
The reason is to do with WVTA, whole vehicle type approval. There are many changes giong on (mainly to do with the commercial vehicle side of things,
which has been fairly un-regulated), but are not planned to be rolled out until 2010 at the earliest, will probably be nearer 2012.
I have been to a couple of seminars on it and reported on here (will look for the thread), but basically, it will not affect kit cars, but will affect
people who make their own trailers (every trailer, from a little erde type upto a full Brian James).
And it means that in a few years time the test centres will get a lot bussier, as there will be a huge number of extra vehicles needing testing.
But as i said, its about 5 years away.
EDIT: here is the link to my previous post...

and remember, its almost certainly not going to affect kit cars and SVA, apart from possibly extending waitiig lists

Good excuse for them to ramp the price up.....
Thanks balidey, even I should be finished in 5 years
Maybe I should start taking more pictures of the build though, just in case
