Brake Disk Fixing Bolts
Slowmotion - 23/11/08 at 10:10 AM

I'm just building up my Cortina uprights and am about to fit the new brake disks.

Although I've got the original fixing bolts the heads are very rusty and rather than just paint them (which is bound to come off) I'd like some new plated items.

They appear to be M10 x 1.5 but with a slightly different head form to standard.

Any ideas where I could get some from? Is there a later Ford which uses the same bolts?

John.

Blue them.

Wire brush off rust, heat them up and drop them in a small bath of used engine oil.
Come up with a lovely deep blue finish.

And don't do it in the house the smell.......

Not to sure but you may find the bolts to be imperial..

Not sure how I feel about heating a critical bolt.

Is there not a risk of affecting the existing heat treatment?

Also is a blued finish weather resistant?
