dif between left and right wheel bearings?
dan_g8 - 9/12/08 at 01:33 PM

Hi, This is probably a really silly question but I am about to change the wheel bearings in my uprights. I called my local supplier and they said that they only had left hand bearings. Is there a difference between left and right hand wheel bearing kits?

if its a kit i would assume it has a nylok nut with it
one will be lh, the other side rh thread
bearing should be the same

Are you using Ford stub axles? then they should be the same, as I recall the nuts are both RH thread secured with a split pin.

I second Dave on this one, I've just bought someone too and its because the new hub nuts supplied have different handed thread.

What hub are you using? Sierra rear hubs have different nuts each side , IIRC the fronts have left or right hand threaded nuts accordingly . Some kits for the Sierra come with both nuts .Cortina front bearing kits are not handed

yeah sierra rear hubs have different threads. The aim is to tighten towards the front of the vehicle.
