yes, it must be a seperate system in case th hydraulics fail.

bugger i was going to have a hydrualic handbrake suppose its just going to be a good cable one then!

Just a thought. Could it not pass if it is completely seperate from hydraulic rear brakes

Don't think so. Concern is that you park up hot, apply handbrake, go shopping and brake fluid cools, contracts and car rolls down a hill and squashes lovable furry bunnies and baby deer.
