Sierra Handbrake

Can anyone tell me what the small plastic 'plunger' thing does on the Sierra handbrake system. It's located in the brake backplate, behind the brake shoe that the cable attaches to.

Do I need it there? (i've lost the original ones)

Cheers

Nick

That sir, is an adjustermawhatsit, and yes, as far as i know, you need need them, they stop the outers pulling through, and allow you to adjust the tension.

i may have some around, but you'd be just as well to pick up a whole new cable thingy, they're about £15

Staple balls...

I think the bit you are talking about is the tension adjuster that allows the tension to be set against the cable outer and the bulkhead. I've got this bit set-up OK.

Conrod...

That sounds (and looks right).

I'll now have to get some more to replace the ones I've managed to lose.

Cheers guys
