195 or 205 for lightweight BEC?

About to buy some R888's before I spin off into a ditch! Car is mid engined, about 350kg - is it worth getting 205 width, or will 195 give the same levels of grip? (I understand contact patch is always the same no matter the width as the tyre just compresses less instead)

I only use 225s on an 1100Kg TVR and the R888s provide plenty of grip for track day use.
Are you thinking of the medium or soft compound?

We run 195's at the front and 205's at the rear in RGB

At that sort of vehicle weight I'd have thought 195 rear and 185 front would be ample.

185's all round on my Westfield R1.

Get medium compound R888's.

They are very grippy tyres, so i wouldnt have thought you need serious amounts of tyre width !

Ok sounds like perhaps it's wise staying on 195's at least at the front. I'm having huge traction issues in 1st and 2nd - Hoping the gains are significant!

as well as what you say about the contact patch being the same, the wider tyre would have to move more water in the wet, which cant help a tyre with a poor tread to begin with.

Good point, especially with the car weighing so little!

You dont need that much width (fnar)
