I would like to reduce the sierra drive shafts by 2" each but unsure how to go about this task.
Therefore
How do you do it and how much would it cost.
It would probably be best done on a lathe with a parting tool then sleeved and welded. Luego used to do shortened shafts exchange for one of their
kits so try contacting them.
yours, Peter the mediochre.
Look up the user Rorty on here.
His profile will have a link to his site which details how to do this.
On the other hand- you sure you want to bother? I've heard a few people say the handling's not great with the narrow shafts- bear in mind
Luego used to shorten the shafts and they've moved away from this now.
HTH,
James
James, the shaft length should make no odds with the handling.
You can part off (if your parting tool will cut the hardened driveshaft) sleeve etc, and much to my scepticism, they don't seem to break. (even
though I broke them on my autograss car, although this has a locked diff)
However, if you want I can put you in touch with someone who can make you shafts to suit the sierra CV's, to any length you require, with rolled
splines, heat-treated etc, no shortening involved (nice race-spec shafts) for £70 a piece.
