Changing a rear axle on a sylva star?

I want to change the axle on my sylva star from viva to ford, Which axle fits best, capri or escort?

I suspect an English axle (Escort) would be more comparable to the Viva in terms of size than the Atlas in the Capri, and much lighter.

Ours has a Magnum axle but I am sure zilspeed will be along shortly 
Probably best on either the jpsc forum or the sylva newsgroup as there have been a few with Zetecs

I've been trying to avoid being first to answer every thread. 
Yes, I did previously comment on the strength of the Viva axle as my last car broke its axle with 2.0 Zetec power.
Maybe I should qualify this a bit.
My car had spent its whole life as a racing car. The bloke who built it raced it in the kitcars and specials championship and it had a tuned engine
complete with steel bottom end, Tony Law exhaust etc.
We were the ones who converted it to Zetec power and the bloke I sold it to converted it to 2.0 power. As I said previously, 165-175bhp.
When it broke, it was on the startline of a race and was wearing Avon ACB10s which are some of the stickiest road going tyres you can get.
That there is the most extreme load the axle will ever experience, so maybe not completely indicative of what it's likely to experience in
everyday use.
BM Seven is right, stick in a Magnum axle.
(My own next project will be a scratch built car, so in preparation for that, if I were to consider another rear end, I would build an IRS setup
around MX5 hubs and LSD.)

When your car was built, the axle casing would have been modified, the trailing arms were used in a slightly different fashion IIRC.
Given that a Magnum is really just a large engined Viva, chance are that the magnum casing will fit where a Viva one did but with uprated brakes and
internals.
