How can I fix this?

I've bought some flexi hoses to fit my master cylinder but have dropped the ball a bit. As you can see from the pic, the reservoir overhangs all the ports to the straight connector on the end of the flexi hose pushes against the plastic. Is there a different type of end I can fit to the hose to make it work? There is only 18mm between the centres of the port so it has to be small.

edit: I also only need 3 of the 4 ports for my 3 wheeler. What's the best way of blanking the other port?

Remote resovoir? Some Jap vans like a Hi-Ace have them due to the dash being so cramped.

Would banjos fit into a tight space? They've have to be less than 18mm in diameter, which around an M10 bolt is fairly thin.

I don't suppose anyone has an M10 banjo they could put a pair of callipers across and measure the outer diameter could you?

I have a length of braided with an Earls banjo M10 on either end, just measured it, 10.68mm high (just the fitting - no washers or bolt head) & 16.53mm diameter

why not use a bit of copper like you already have there with a female fitting on the other end? then you can use the flexi hoses you have.

What about a radical new concept :

What about removing the plastic bit until the copper is fitted and then "BEND" the pipes out the way so that they don;t come out straight, then refit the plastic bit

That is the way I'd do it. make a bracket and weld to chassis - pipe to bracekt and other end go the flexi hoses.


I don't think that reservoir is designed to take banjo bolts since it requires a machined flat area for the copper washer to seal - I suppose you could machine a flat?


oooh, having seen the photo again, there is a flat area so it may be ok - but then, are you hoses already made up? If so, you would need a connecting pipe or hose so are no better off than my the first suggestion above whcoh would work out cheaper.

I've thought of using copper extension pipes. I want to avoid extra joints if possible and avoid having to support the copper pipe where it joins the flexible hose. The cost of the pipe fittings will be about the same as having the ends changed on the flexi hoses. It's nice to have this idea as a "plan B"
