Hi guys n gals,

I need to replace all 4 cv boots on my driveshafts. Apparently the push in shafts cannot be taken apart so have to use a cone thingy to fit boot. I found these very cheap things on the bay of e and wondered if they are worth getting in true locost syle or not. suggestions would be great or if anyone has 4 cv boots they dont need, beer tokens await...

Yep I've used them on my renault tintop, very handy and easy to use. I got some wax type spray from motor factors. Just follow the instructions on the listing and it's easy peasy.

You can only use with the special stretchey boots normal boots do not have enough give. Found that they are fairly easy to puncher as thinner than the normal ones.

Thought they were cheap at 99p but just noticed the 11.95 postage. Obvious blatent getting around the ebay fees

you can take the shafts apart, but you probably need a new tin cover thingy

if your in the motor fators anyway you should ask what a complete pair of exchange shafts would cost - it might not be that bad

What ever you do avoid the sticky boot type jobbies unless it's a bodge to get round MOT. I used them on my tintop (despite advice to the contrary) and they failed after a couple of months and I ended up replacing the whole CV joint.

What you need to use is a duraboot
They arnt expensive and partco ect stock them

Easy enough to use. Just apply lots of silicone spray to the boot and cone. Turn the boot inside out and push over big end first. Then turn it back the right way out.

just been looking abit more close to these and its a very expensive cv boot, although 99p to buy, each kit will be £11 postage for each kit so not going to go for them.....

I used a company on ebay, Panda-tools for strech type boots.

about £6 each with grease sachet, metal & plastic ties and silicone lube for the applicator
