Right then. I'm looking to do a rear brake upgrade to a car we're putting together.
It's currently running standard single floating caliper with integral handbrake mechanism in the caliper. It doesn't have rear drums for the
handbrake. The car weighs in excess of 1000kg so the Wilwood Powerlite handbrake caliper isn't suitable.
It will have 6 pot Superlites upfront, so would like something to keep the rear in check.
I've been looking over Wilwoods site and the only ideas I can come up with is either use the
combination P-Brake or use the
Mechanical Spot Caliper with a matching 4 pot caliper for the foot
brakes, both mounted to the rear 2 piece disk. Something like this
Firstly, assuming the spot caliper can provide enough effort for the MOT (as it needs to have one) will the kit pass with that sort of setup?
Secondly, is anyone able to offer any alternative solutions?
Pointless as on a Mondeo sized FWD car the rear brakes only do any significant contribution to the braking when the car is loaded up at the rear.

How about a Hispec regal SVA caliper or Wilwood 2pod with side brake type?
I think important matter of caliper choice is front and rear stopping force balance.
Therefor, I've chosen piston area about front 65%, rear 35%.
