I have bought a snap off boss which bolts to the existing boss but this makes the steering wheel too close to me. The existing boss attached to the column is 3 inches deep, maybe more? if i could get a shallower boss to bolt to the column, i could use my snap off boss but having browsed the net, i cant seem to find anything.

The column is mk2 escort, i know sierra is a triangle column which is different but i dont know what other cars has the splined MK2 escort type column.

any help appreciated

Can you fit a 'proper' snap off boss? One that is pinned and welded to the column rather than using another boss to attach to.

There are low profile snap off bosses (about 25mm IIRC) available on eBay - I was considering one to make things easier getting in & out of the car.

i already the quick release boss which is a bolt on one so i would rather not change it for a weld on one. If it could just find a shallow conventional one to go on the spline then i could use it.
