Hi, Can anyone help me with this little problem. Can someone tell me how many different size sierra rear bearing/hub carriers there. I have just bought, from 'Hi-spec', front and rear discs and calipers for my project (Luego Vienta - Sierra based running gear) and the rear disc/caliper combo will not fit as the disc supplied is too large in diameter. I contacted Hi-spec who reckon that I have the wrong size bearing carrier. Ford apparently made them with different size caliper lug spacing to accommodate different size discs. Standard size discs are 253 mm and I have 273mm discs so I need hub carriers with lugs 10 mm longer. Please can anyone shed some light on this for me, Thank you
I think your looing for the ones from a cossie 4x4 (assuming you want to keep the std. 100mm CV's)
but changing to the 253mm disc's might be cheaper and easier (I'm assuming its solid ones you've got not vented ones)
the 253mm discs should be more than enough to stop the car....

I'm curious about this too. Rally Design sells two kits with powerlites for the rear axle.
- Sierra Rear (Disc) Powerlite HB Caliper - 273mm Solid Kit
- Sierra Rear (Drum) Powerlite HB Caliper - 240mm Solid Kit
I don't quite understand the difference between the two. Would the axle carrier be bigger for the bolt on shafts? (IIRC disc braked sierra's
had the bolt on ones, while the drum braked sierras had the push in ones)
My hubs are allready turned down to fit discs.

Thank you for your replies. I have just spoken to Greig from anembo engineering who makes custom billet ali hubs for sierra's (£140.00 per pair without bearings) and he said he had been asked this question before but was not sure as to the answer regarding size of hubs but can make me a set if required. I do want to keep as larger disc on the rear as possible, one for the look and two for the stopping power. If the brakes prove to be to much I can always put a brake bias valve in place. I will try to see if I can find any info on Cosworth 4x4 brakes but I am wondering if they use vented discs instead of solid but keep the same diameter. Please keep the ideas coming as I'm not sure which way to go here, cheers for the help so far
there shouldn't be any need to buy expencive custome hub carriers....
the sierra 2wd cossie's used 273mm solid discs, but these had different hubs with bigger bearings and bigger 108mm CV joints (so if you have std.
driveshafts at the moment they won't be much good to you)
the cossie 4x4's (sierra and escort) used 273mm vented discs, but the cossie 4x4's used the 100mm CV joints the same as the std.
sierra's
(the granada/scorpio cossie 24v is also the same, but some of these have 5 stud hubs)
I'm 90% sure its only the caliper thats changed to suit the vented discs (there are only 2 kinds of rear caliper on these cars - solid or
vented)
so a bit of mix and match should sort you out
cossie 4x4 rear hub & hub carrier
+ cossie 2wd rear disc (273mm soild)
+ Hi Spec calipers (same fitment as std. sierra soilid disc ones I beleve)
that way I'm fairly sure you wouldn't need modify anything or get any custom bits made...
all that's assuming that the hub carriers you have now are the same as mine:
the cossie ones are 10 - 11mm longer than that...
if your going for an IVA test though you'd best have a look at the requirements for the brake adjustment to be perminantly locked....

Hi, No my calipers are partially filled inbetween the caliper holes, your hub does not have the center filled in and the two lugs have a space all the way back to the main body. I would post a picture but I am not sure how, hint hint please

I posted something about this recently, I have sierra rear hubs but my cossy rear calipers (not 4x4 ones) dont line up with the hub, its as if they
need a spacer to push the caliper outboard to sit right over the disc.
These are solid disc calipers, do all the Cosworths use 273mm ventilated discs ?

Hi, If you compare your photo of the rear hub to mine you will see the difference is in the web formed between the two caliper bolts. Yours doesn’t
have one and mine is half filled in. I have just recently spoken to someone else who sent me the following information when I asked how many different
size rear hubs for sierras were made, see below – mine measure 96.5 mm as well. Can you measure your hubs and then we can where the difference lies
as I think your hubs are shorter. Regards

^^ its actually the centres of the 2 holes I was measuring (its easier to get right with just a tape )
I got it as 2" / 52mm on mine - I'm not sure if the web makes any odds or not....

Just to be sure we are both singing from the same hymn sheet then, you are measuring from the closest of the four main bolt holes to the caliper bolt
hole, centre to centre, which on mine is approx 60 mm, see drawing attached. This for me is the important measurement so has anyone got a hub that is
longer or shorter than 60 mm from the closest bolt hole or 96.5 mm centre of bearing to either of the caliper bolt hole.
