My brain is starting to melt after trawling through the search results so are the following discs and pads suitable for my car?
The fronts are Sierra hubs and calipers from a 2.0l Pinto'd car and the rears are from an XR4x4 (can't remember if it was a 2.8 or 2.9).

If those discs are crap then do say.
Buy some wilwood powerlites instead
NO Ben! The Sierra calipers are shiney refurbs and the extra money is needed elsewhere......like for a rollcage, wheels, seats etc
I used KA solid callipers and early sirerra pov spec solid disks along with some Mintex sooper dooper pads
Changed the master cyl for a Fiat Panda item and well happy with the setup
(much better bite and feel than when I had the Sierra master cyl and the vented setup)
Didn't compare weights but I guess its also a far bit lighter with my new setup

I might change my master cylinder so a Panda one could be good....?
I'm going to keep everything else I have at the moment just need disks and pads.
Pads....I should have some EBC Greenstuff pads for the vented Sierra callipers here somewhere if you want to keep the costs way down - will try and
dig them out if you want them and bring them to the next Cadnam meet?
(unless you are going to Wickham square on Boxing Day??)
I changed them in the hopes it would improve the bite a bit- really cannot recall if it made much difference TBH- didn't do many miles on them
before ditching the venteds and fitting the new master cyl
I /should/ also have the vented disks... somewhere
I read good things about the Mintex M1144 pads so went with them with the new setup and will replace them with the same when they finally need doing
(if that actually occurs in my lifetime) - they have a good bite and not yet eaten the disks alive or given me any scary moments - seem to work good
from cold and not had them fade* (*dsclaimer I drive like a grandad and not got the bottle nor the money to do a track day)
Will try and find what master cyl I used was - I know it was a cheapy brand new item from eBay and was for a Fiat Panda without a servo - only knock
on effect was it required a remote reservoir - again I sourced one from eBay from a Daihatsu Hijet for very little in the way of cost - I /may/ have
had to change the brake fittings as well - I know I had to remake at least one line as I also ditched my front to rear bias Fiat doohickey that had
developed a leak - turns out /my/ car doesn't need one and the fronts lock before the rear anyway without it
Don't know what bits made the biggest improvement - all I can say as a package it fulfilled what I had aimed to achieve at very little cost
If you want to get new pads - I would go with the Mintex M1144's and skip the EBC Greenstuff's TBH
(My offer still stands though!)

Thanks for that Rob, very useful, I will source a few bits on line. Master cylinder change for sure but I will decline the vented disks and pads
though as I am planning on going with solids.
Those discs in my 'bay links will be ok won't they?
Am I correct in thinking that as I have standard 2.0l sierra front calipers and xr4x4 on the rear, the disc sizes available will always end up bigger
on the rear??.......thus a proportioning valve is needed.....maybe.
Also how do I know if my calipers are for solid or vented discs.....or does it not matter?
