OK, been checking the car over as the MOT is due shortly.

My rear tyres although still legal at the moment will need replacing at some point this year.

I currently use the Yoko A048's which are great in the dry, but sadly living in old blightly we rarely get a full summer of dry weather and driving on rain soaked roads is not pleasant on the 48's.

So what I need are some recommendations for tyres that can be used all year round ( snow an exception !!) and still provide me with the grip that our cars need to handle well, price to a certain extent is academic but willing to pay for good rubber.

Ok fire away, telling me why you like your chosen tyres.

Whilst not the stickiest things going, I had Zeta Linea's on my BEC. Good all year round grip, and they will work in the snow too! Nice progressive brake away too, and very predictable in the wet. Also fairly well priced.

I previously had Yoko A539s which weren't bad.

i would look at toyo r1r full treaded but soft so good for a light weight car

+1 for R1Rs

not much choice if your on 13s toyo r1r not available nor are the marengoti zeta lineas

I was hoping for some more input here, but not to worry.

I am on 13 inch wheels as it happens, so I guess from what you are saying is now limiting my choice, but I will carry on looking.

No one using something from Michelin or Dunlop, I hear the Kumo's are ok as well, any one use those?.

Caterhams run Dunlop Cr500's ?? They seem to work well on the cars I go out with now and then.

You could look at the Kumho range, KU31 and 36 aren't available in 13" but the KH17 is.

Lots more tyres available in the 15" range. It may be worth thinking about replacing the rims too.

Avon (not Dunlop !) CR500s, Avon CR28 Sport or Yokohama A021Rs are pretty much the only 13" List 1B tyres which would be suitable for 'all weathers'

CR28 Sports are more wet weather than the other two with the 021Rs a good compromise between wet and dry.

Do you have the ability to store a second set of wheels for the bad weather? If so, you can have a good sticky set for warm days, and a lesser set for colder/wetter weather. If they'll fit, it may also mean you can have 14"/15" wheels to give a wider range for the poor weather set and then have the wider choice.

Thanks guys, I will check all those out, in regard to having spare wheels, that would made perfect sense except I spent 15 years doing constant wheel changes and storing 16 plus wheels during my racing days, and I really don't want to have to change wheels everytime a cloud hovers overhead anymore.

The Yoko range I have used for years and years now, and they are great tyres, but just wanted to see what the rest of you use for everyday use.

Yoko 21Rs are very good in the wet and dry but that does make them quite delicate and they can wear very quickly! As long as you aren't doing regular trackdays in hot weather they should be fine.
