Hi All,
I am looking to fit a quick release hub to my adjustable steering column.. Just wondered if anyone had done this ... What I find odd is that the Upper sleeve and the shaft just pull apart. Is this normal? This means that the column only gets held together with the spring compressed when the column is fitted in the car to the chassis and the lower steering arm. I have a 5/8 inch 4130 weld on slug to fit.


any advice before I get this done would be appreciated....

Im surprised nobody has chipped in with the welded boss horror story, cannot recall which Locoster it was, but it came off on a trackday.

Why do you want one? do you need one or do you want one ?


Yes the outer alloy bit is a slip fit over the metal column

I have an SPA locking QR boss.... It has a real positive locking mechanism... I think most Caterhams. Have these fitted.... Just fancied one to be honest.. Additional security device was another thought but not the reason....

Im not a Sierra column expert, but yours doesnt look like my sierra column

There are two versions... One is height and length adjustable.. Mine is this type....
