Steering Column Shaft
Furyous - 1/7/14 at 09:48 AM

I bought THIS steering column to replace a welded lower column (Can't have a welded steering column in NZ). Unfortunately, it's 30mm too short. I'm sure there were a choice of lengths when I bought it, but now I can't seem to find any others.

Does anyone know where else I can get a slightly longer one? This one is 330mm. Something close to 400mm would be good, because then I could move the wheel a little closer to the seat. As it is, I would need a shaft 360mm long.

I think they are both the same length...

how about mount the steering wheel 30mm closer to the dash and using a boss adapter / spacer thingy to move wheel back towards you ? (does that make sense?)

the page you link to, THIS

also has different lengths of uj/couplings for the lower joint. (short and long)

The trouble with that is it would move the column mounted stalks into the dash.

Those would give an extra 40mm, which would work, but at £50 each I think I'd like to try another option if I can!

Carbuilder solutions do one that is 400mm with both ends 9/16" splined.

Have a look here.

Aha! I completely forgot about CBS. I'm pretty sure that's where I saw the different lengths before. I'll give that one a go. Thanks!
