Speedo travel

You can tell I've got back into doing my car - loads of questions!

When I did my pedals I tried to copy the Escort pedal box geometry as far as I could (successfully, I think). Throuble is, my throttle pedal travel is only a few inches from off to fully open.

Can anyone else tell me what travel they've got for their pedal?

ta,

David

DAMN!

I just realised what my subject line said...

...it should be PEDAL travel.

Sigh.

Hi David

GO and find a Megane - R reg - in a dealer, and check out the accellerator pedal. On my wifes car if its more than an inch i would be suprised!

On my car I arranged the travel to give me a full open throttle when it was floored. You can do this by frigging with the cable attatchment point at the pedal, or do what i did. I cut and modified the 'pawl' on the efi throttle bodies so that the amount of cable travel is reduced by modifying the lever action.

You could also cobble some kinda 'amplifying lever' to increase cable travel.

You could also modify the pedal itself to be more forward, so it had more room to go back.

there's some options for you!

I had to trim the angles of my pedals and the cable pawl to get the clutch and accellerator travel I needed. My brakes are a strange 90 degree affair to the abs cylinder, so i designed them to be right for the car.

Steve,

So far I've managed to keep it simple - I'm still using the old Escort throttle cable and linkages.

I think I'll modify the top of the pedal so I get slightly better leverage.

A spot of grease on the carb linkages would help, as well!

if you move the cable attachment point nearer to the pivot point it will give you more travel,it will be a bit of a jerky ride if travel is too little
