Brake pads
Matt21 - 1/10/15 at 11:46 AM

I'm after new pads for my Indy

It currently has EBC green stuff pads but I want something better.
I cant justify the price of ferodos

So EBC yellow or red?

Which would be better suited to a light weight kit?

Fast road and track use?

Also, can anyone confirm which car the sierra calipers are from? I'm not home to check what they are

Thanks

+2, and the last set I got came in cheaper than EBC!

What are they like on the road and track?

Also, what calipers are likely to be on my car?

1144's bite from cold, I have really hammered the car on the track and never had brake fade just consistent braking throughout.

+3 for the 1144's. Was running standard pads before these so can't comment on them over EBC's, but I realised the other day I hadn't 'thought' about braking since fitting them. So much better than standard. Generate a fair bit of dust though (which is to be expected).

I'm running standard Sierra calipers and vented disks.

Sierra I'd guess, but pic's would help

They come in 3 basic flavours (excluding cossie ones)

Solid discs (240mm) found on 1.3's and some 1.6's I think

Vented 240mm ones, these are on most cars except ones with ABS or 4x4

Vented 260mm ones, these are on the V6's, ABS, 4x4, and the mk3 Granada too

Mintex 1144 great feel even from cold and I haven't had any brake fade problems on track days

I'm away from home so cant get pics or measurements

The fronts are vented dics, solids on the rear

As for the size I dont know.
Whats most commonly used on an mk and supplied by mk themselves?

I've tried M1144 pads on my car - the squealing drove me nuts! Went back to standard pads in the end (but I do admit that they stopped the car very well).
