Shock orientation

I’ve had pretty bad knocking on my marlin since getting it on the road, I finally found that it looks like the gaz adjustable shocks are hitting the frame Rail at the top and binding... can’t believe I didn’t notice before. I have two options ( currently the shock is mounted with the adjuster screw for rebound at the bottom closet to the ground)

either space the top of the shock away from the chassis rail... which I’m not keen on

Or

Can I invert the shock so that the adjuster knob is at the top along with the adjustable spring plate for setting the ride height? This would give the required clearance at the top of the shock.

I would ask the manufacturer.

Pretty sure 99% of coilovers can't be run upside down,they need some special valving to allow it.

May well be wrong, but that is my understanding as well. That they're meant to be run with the body and adjuster knob at the bottom.

Ultimately, as "wylliezx9r" says, I'd check with the shock manufacturer before changing the orientation of them. You don't want to damage them and have to replace them.

As standard they can?

Or you need to specify you will be running them upside down when ordering?

The website doesn't specify, just says that they can be run upside down

Protech also supply extended top eyes
Ring Gaz and see if the do them as well, Though I've not seen any

I called gaz today, if I want to mount them upside down I need to send them back to have the air bled out.


Going to try some adjustments with positioning and see if I can get around the problem
