Hi guys,
I have sierra front and rear hubs and disc setup on my build.
I dont have any disc or pads from the other car etc. How can I identify what is needed or what sierra they came off?
Cheers all!
there are only a few kinds for the sierra's
to try and make it easy have you got any pics / are their any large numbers cast into the calipers ?
Hi ya,
I was hoping that was the case.
One front looks like P30
Other front looks like 29P
Rear looks like 0659/4
If that's no help, I could put pics up?

This may help a bit
https://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=205361&page=2
And this
https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/brake-calipers-10907/ford/sierra/sierra-estate-bnc
the gap in the carrier bracket is defiantly the wider one for a vented disc - so that only really gives you 2 options (excluding 4x4 or
cossie's)
they can be either 260mm vented discs as found in the XR4, V6 or any 2wd one with ABS - these use calipers with ~60mm pistons
or 240mm vented discs - as found in all other normal sierra's (normally with drums on the rear) - these use calipers with ~54mm pistons
the numbers one the front calipers don't match mine (all mine are 260mm disc type) so there is a good chance that it the 240mm kind - but its
easy to check the piston size and if you want to double check just cut out a 240 or 260mm cardboard disc offer it up
--------
the rears are just as easy - there is only 1 type of pad
there are only 2 types of caliper - for vented or solid discs - but vented ones are only on cossie 4x4's and granada 24v cossie's
on normal sierra's there is only one kind of rear disc 253mm solid
2wd cossie's use 273mm vented ones - the caliper is identical to the std sierra, but the lugs on the bearing carrier are longer (this setup
also uses bigger CV joints and the 7.5" LSD diff)
4x4/Granada cossies use a 273mm vented disc again with longer lugs on the bearing carrier and the wider vented calipers
I have pics with sizes of the lugs for comparison that I can dig up if needed - but it shouldn't be hard to measure the space you've got to
check which disc you need

Hi guys,
Front disc looks like a 240mm, 260mm is to big and piston measures 54mm so any discs for a standard sierra will do, not cossy or 4x4 etc?
Great looks like a 253mm will fit, 273 way to big. So again, looks like a Standard sierra too? So all I need is standard discs and pads for a standard
sierra?
Cheers,
sound right
try looking for front brakes for an 1.8 OHC or 1.8 CVH without ABS - that should get you the right size
for the rear just look for the XR4x4 brakes - they are the same 253mm solid type, but they were the only kind ever fitted to the XR4x4's so
it'll make it easier when looking through the catalogues...
This is a good resource as they publish their tech docs.
