CDS tubing

Can anyone help?
I'm looking for enough cold drawn seamless tubing for the bush housings on wishbones and rear links, about a metre all told, either big enough to take Mark Norden or GTS poly bushes or small enought to take standard Triumph ones.
It seems v. hard to come by and I don,t want to buy a 6+ metre length.

Am currently building an e-bay special!
Welder, donor Escort, Cortina uprights etc. all got locally
off the net.

I'm in Worcestershire if anybody local wants to get in touch.

i asked the same question 2 days ago. i was having trouble finding some too but seems most people use erw not seamless. look on the chassis forum section and u'll see my original post with all the answers.

Get the tube from the people you get the bushes from- you can't fail to get the right fit that way!

Dread to think what the cost per meter is though

I decided on which bushes I wanted, got an example to pysically check the size and took it to my local steel stockholder where I got an offcut of seamed tube the correct size for a fiver.

Don't see why it'd be that much if it's just an off-cut from the stock they make the wishbones from anyway.
I bought bushes, crush tubes, outer tubing and even the bolts all from MK a couple of years ago for what seemed a very reasonable price at the time.

Sorry James I thought you were refering to buying individual bush tubes.

Thanks for the advice, found a local metal supermarket, they seem to be very helpfull, one of the staffs even building a locost.

Got a reply from MNR, they quoted £2.20 per cds tube, which dobles the cost of the bush. Not the same as yours James but all the same, it aint cheap.

Heafty welded tube (2.5+mm wall) sound the best bet for a road car.

I used thickwall seamed tube and used the lathe to clean up the bore and provide a tapered lead-in for pressing the Triumph bushes home.

I prefer using seamed tube too, as the seam ensures the PU bushes don't revolve and are "keyed" to the wishbone eyes and will therefore pivot only on the crush tubes.
I also agree that a lead in is essential, especially for PU bushes.
