Centre lock wheel, how tight?

Does anyone know how much moment is used to tighten the centre lock wheel nuts on a Formula one car?

Over 500ft/lb (678N/m).....and you thought the sierra rear hubs were tight

Out of interest...why do you need to know that?

Im using Williams F1 wheels and nuts on my Dax. A bit on the wide side but I thought I'd try

Remember LH thread on LH side -- RH thread on RH side --- once had a Lotus on with the peg drive hubs assembled on the wrong side and was for ever getting loose wheels till I switched them right to left easy on front major job on rear.

Yes, that is important.
The wheel nuts are colour coded so I'm using them the same way Williams did.
I hope that will work

I knew a bloke with an Elan with knock on wheels that were assembled the right way and they still used to come off.

I'll be using a locking mechanism to keep the wheel nuts on the hub. But they can still get slightly undone...

Will the steering not be a little heavy though? And I'm sure the Police won't like the slicks!

They have splined fittings, right? What kind of hubs, brakes etc are you using? Got any photos?

What about tyres? Surely you'll never get F1 tyres hot enough?? Or are they just some aftermarket slicks that fit?

Yes, steering will probably be a bit heavy, but I could always steer with the trottle

I'll have the slicks cut so they don't look so suspcious

Yes I really am. Silly, isn't it?

The wheels don't have splined fittings. Just three drive pegs in each wheel. I've made the hubs my self but I bought the wheel nuts.

Front callipers are four pot Brembos from a Minardi F1. Titanium pistons. Discs are Ap-racing. I think there are some photos on my web page. Just click "members" and you'll se the Dax

The tyres are aftermarket slicks and, as you say, it might be a problem getting them warm. We'll see.

Warming tyres is easy just have a puddle of bleach or water. Top fuel style

Just bought some Diemag peg drive wheels, they have 67mm AF nuts and have been told to tighten them to 600NM...
Torque wrench wasn't cheap.....
